What is an attunement
An attunement is an energy that the Reiki Master will send to the Reiki Practitioner to initiate into the energy of Reiki. After this the Reiki Practitioner will be able to upgrade to a new level of Reiki, but this is also needed for the first level.
Without the attunement you can't be a Reiki practitioner because you didn't get initiated into the energy of Reiki and this can't be done alone, only with a certified Reiki Master.
The attunement can be sent in person or by distance. When is sent by distance be careful to provide your exact full name, gender, age, timezone, day and time you want the attunement. When is done by distance you need to make sure you are synchronized with the Reiki Master at the same day, time and timezone.

Distance matters?
The distance doesn't matter because the speed of transmission of the Reiki Energy is the same as the top speed in our universe, which is the same as the speed of light = 299798 km per second or 186282 miles per second. The biggest distance between 2 places on the planet earth is around 13000 km or 8000 miles, therefore the Reiki Energy will be transferred to you in less than 1 second.
Interesting fact: the light takes 8 minutes and 20 seconds to travel from the Sun to the planet Earth and the distance between the Sun and Earth is 150 million km or 93 million miles. Is really incredible how far away the Sun is from us!
How to prepare for the Reiki Attunement
24 hours earlier
You should:
- not drink alcohol;
- not smoke or try to limit as much as possible;
- reduce sugar;
- reduce meat and fish;
- drink more water or natural juices from freshly made juices (not from concentrate or bottled, just made from fresh fruit);
- continue taking your normal medication;
- continue following any advice your doctor gave you;
- reduce exposure to screens like tv, phones, laptops, tablets, smart watches and other electronic devices;
- try to reduce your stress;
- during your work breaks try to relax;
- keep your energies high, don't do excessive exercise;
15 minutes before
15 minutes before the attunement will start is the most critical thing you should do. Following there is a list of all the things you should do:
- don't eat or drink;
- focus on your inner self;
- think about positive things;
- think about what you learned about Reiki;
- close your eyes;
- listen to a relaxing song or nothing;
About the place where you stay during the attunement:
- quiet;
- should have no distractions;
- low light exposure, avoid bright places;
During the attunement
The attunement can last between 30 and 180 minutes and that depends by the Reiki Master preference. Note that longer time (+60 minutes) doesn't mean that will be better. Also note that short attunement (30 minutes) has the same impact as a long attuenement.
During the attuenement you should do the following:
- focus on the Reiki Energy and visualize its colors;
- feel and embrance the Reiki Energy that the master is sending to you;
- open your soul to receive the positive Reiki Energy;
- close your eyes;
- listen to a relaxing song or nothing;
What will happen during the attunement
From my vast experience with students all over the world, from London to Beijing and New York and much more, it will not be the same for all students.
Some will feel an enlightening feeling overwhelming of positivity, while others can feel a lighter positive emotion.
