Hatsurei-Ho—What It Is & How To Do It

Hatsurei-Ho—What It Is & How To Do It

Table of Contents

What Is Hatsurei-Ho?

When treating clients, I recommend doing a full Hatsurei-ho before and after each session, as well as the Dry Brushing or Reiki Shower technique between each two sessions. But now we will discuss Hatsurei-ho first. The greatest method to clear your head and be ready for the rest of your day or evening is to take a cold shower after your final client, followed by a wonderful warm one, if you like.

What Is Hatsurei-Ho?

Hatsurei-ho is an important Japanese Reiki practice. It is a cleansing and meditation exercise that helps you grow spiritually and enhances your Reiki channel. It's a great way to start or finish the day or start your Reiki practice, whether for yourself or others. The following description may appear complex, but it is fairly easy. It can be done in as short as ten minutes or as long as you like (Joshin Kokyu Ho: cleansing breath, and Seishin Toitsu: focus or meditation).

1. Kihon Shisei—Standard Posture

Make yourself comfortable either on the floor or in a chair, then close your eyes and allow yourself to drift off into a deep state of relaxation. You'll find it between 1 and 2 inches (1 and 3 centimeters) below your navel if you pay attention to your Tan-dien. Focus on deep, steady breathing as you center yourself and focus your thoughts before beginning the Hatsurei-ho with hands on your lap, palms facing downward.

2. Kenyoku-Ho—Dry Bathing Or Brushing

Brushing can be done with or without contact, about 5 cm (2 in) away from the body, in the aura. Each movement is rapid. For this exercise, exhale as you brush, generating a sound like "haaah" as you do so.

  • Lay your right hand flat, fingers, and thumb together at the region where your collarbone meets your left shoulder.
  • Draw the flat hand diagonally over your chest, from your left shoulder to your right hip. Expel your breath fast while generating a distinct sound, such as "haaah."
  • Now sweep down from your right shoulder to your left hip, again inhaling loudly.
  • Then, while exhaling loudly, return your right hand to your left shoulder and repeat the motion.
  • Then, instead of brushing diagonally over your torso, brush along your arms from shoulder to fingertips. Place your right-hand flat on your left shoulder, fingertips pointing slightly outward.
  • Sweep your right hand down the outside of your left arm to the fingertips of your left hand. Simultaneously exhale fast and loudly, generating a distinct sound throughout.
  • Repeat on the other side, with your left hand on your right shoulder, brushing fast to your right hand's fingertips, and exhaling loudly.
  • Sweep your right hand down your left arm from shoulder to fingertips, exhaling loudly.

3. Connect To Reiki

Your hands should be 20 to 30 cm (8 to 12 in) apart above your head, palms facing each other. Visualize and feel the Reiki light and vibration pouring into and between your hands. It's time to move on when you can feel this vibe.

4. Joshin Kokyu Ho—Cleansing Breath

  • Now lower your arms, palms upward, and breathe naturally and steadily through your nostrils. Allow your body to relax and focus on your Hara line (a primary energy line connecting all the major chakras from the root to the crown).
  • Focus on your breathing, and imagine Reiki as white light coming into your Reiki channel and down the Hara line to your major chakras. Imagine Reiki growing to fill your entire body, from head to toes, shoulders to fingertips, melting away all tensions.
  • As you exhale, imagine the Reiki light going through your skin, filling your aura, and then flowing in all directions to infinity.
  • Breathe Reiki in and out for a few minutes, or as long as you like.

5. Gassho

Whenever you're ready, place your hands together in front of your heart chakra in the Gassho (praying) position.

6. Seishin Toitsu—Concentration Or Meditation

  • Imagine breathing through your hands while keeping your hands in the Gassho position.
  • Imagine Reiki energy streaming into your hands and then into your heart chakra as you inhale. It fills your heart chakra before pouring into your Hara line. The visible flow of white light up and down your Hara line.
  • Then, as you exhale, envision the light filling your Hara line radiating out through your hands, spreading Reiki all around the world and into the Universe.
  • Then let your thoughts settle into a tranquil, meditative state for a few minutes or as long as you wish. To receive the Rei-Ju empowerment, you must remain motionless with your eyes closed until your Reiki Master informs you that the Rei-Ju has been finished.

7. Gokai Sansho

Traditional Japanese Reiki students would now speak the Reiki Principles three times aloud. You may wish to follow suit.

8. Mokunen

  • Return your hands to your lap, palms downward, and aim to finish the Hatsurei-ho.
  • When ready, open your eyes and gently shake your hands up and down, then left to right for a few seconds to re-establish bodily awareness.

This is the most effective way to clear your mind and prepare you for the rest of your day. After doing this technique, now it's time to continue your day or begin your Reiki practice, whether for your own or others' benefit. Enjoy!

Chanting And Toning With Karuna Reiki

The Karuna Reiki experience taught me that toning or chanting during a Karuna Reiki session causes profound shifts in the healing energy's vibrational frequency. Guided Meditation To Help Heal The Shadow Self Can Change Your Life

The shadow self refers to the aspects of ourselves that have been repressed into the unconscious — the aspects of ourselves that we are insecure about, ashamed of, or frustrated with. The shadow self-concept is based on the idea that we metaphorically bury those aspects of our personalities that we fear will not be accepted, accepted, or loved by others; thus, we keep them in the shadows.

Integrative And Functional Medicine —Personalized Care For The 21st Century

The goal of integrative and functional medicine is to get to the root cause of health problems and treat the whole person with a combination of approaches—optimizing health for those who have it and restoring health for those who have lost it. Integrative medicine and functional medicine are often used interchangeably, but the terms are actually referring to two different approaches to patient care.
