Many individuals find meditation to be a challenging exercise. The act of meditating is the act of relinquishing control. It isn't a technique for clinging to old beliefs, habits, or behaviors. You must let go of the need to be in control and allow the natural energetic mindstate to function as it should, free of our mind's mental disturbances.

This is how meditation can help us, but the vast majority of people do it incorrectly. Worst of all, the majority of people do not meditate at all! Meditation, it goes without saying, provides us with numerous health benefits, ranging from weight loss to manifesting our goals and dreams.

When I first started practicing Reiki, I had no idea that meditation would become so ingrained in my practice but it wasn't until later that I realized how much it had boosted my Reiki healing.

To understand what meditation was and how to properly practice it, I had to travel in search of great teachers. And in this article, I'm going to share some of the meditation techniques that the masters of this art have taught me.

Your Meditation's Purpose

What motivates you to start meditating in the first place?  Is it because of your parents, your mentor, or something else you've come across? Whatever your reasons, keep in mind that the path to success isn't always the path to happiness.

This implies that you will begin meditating for a variety of purposes. Perhaps you'd like to lose a little more weight or you're looking for a way to unwind and recover from the stresses of modern life or you're really looking for a relaxing activity.

Your Meditation's Purpose

There is an endless number of explanations that someone may want to start meditating, but these usually change over time. "The Transformation of Desire To Purpose" is how we refer to this. In other words, even though you start meditation with other targets in mind, it's very likely that you'll choose to embark on a deeper path with it.

I started meditating because I wanted to have a stronger Reiki energy field and better channeling skills. However, I discovered that by meditating, I was able to strengthen my bond with Universal Energy over time and my meditation aim evolved into "The Purpose To Transform The World". 

The benefit of meditation is that it can be practiced at any task or time. Any of these activities, such as doing the laundry, reading a book, or hiking, are also examples of things that can be used to meditate.

But how do you know if you're doing it correctly? Is it possible for you to feel the benefits? Here are some tried-and-true tips to help you get the best out of your meditation session. 

Time to Meditate Should Be Scheduled

It's not difficult to want to meditate right now. So, how about translating the theory into action?

The most straightforward way to begin meditating is to do less than you think you're capable of. What does this mean in practice?

If you think you can meditate for 10 minutes, cut it down to 5 minutes. This is explained in a superb manner.

The first reason is that many people see meditation as a task that must be done or a box that must be checked off their to-do list. However, I believe this is the incorrect way of thinking about meditation.

Meditation should sound indulgent as if you could never get enough of it. As a consequence, you will always want to do better when it comes to meditation. This would help you develop the habit of actually meditating for 30 minutes a day, rather than trying to meditate for 30 minutes straight away.

I recommend beginning your meditation practice first thing in the morning because this is the perfect time to feel energized and caring during the day. Starting in the morning will help you to realign the energy field and remove any blockages from the day before. Morning meditation, on the other hand, is fully relaxing.

It's important to remember that meditation is a technique for recharging the energy field and preserving balance. If you do this first thing in the morning, you'll be well on your way to a successful day. Following that, we'll go over some strategies that you can use right away. 

Gassho Meditation

Dr. Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki, taught his students how to do Gassho Meditation. Unfortunately, this art has been forgotten in recent decades but those who do thorough study are aware of the influence of Gassho Meditation.

"Gassho" roughly translates to "palms of the hands placed together" in Japanese. This form of meditation can be performed at any time of day, but it is most often done in the morning and evening.

Gassho Meditation

If you want to begin learning Gassho Meditation, remember that you will do even less than you believe you can. This will encourage your energy levels to steadily adapt to the new change rather than being thrown off by it. Gassho is a basic technique for relaxing the mind and restoring balance to the body's normal energy systems.

To perform Gassho Meditation, simply put your hands together in a prayer pose. Look for a relaxing place to sit, lay down, or even stand in.

When repeating the word "I am present", take a deep breath in and slowly exhale. Go on like this for as long as you'd like.

If your mind wanders, either return your attention to the phrase "I am present" or gently press your fingertips together in the prayer posture. If your mind wanders off on a tangent, don't berate yourself.

Again, do less than you think you can to allow your energy to adapt to the new schedule. The last thing you want is for your energy levels to drop. After that, we'll learn how to use water to meditate.

Water Meditation

Japanese Buddhist monks were the first to use this method to cleanse their aura by using their palms. This was used by Dr. Mikao Usui to strengthen the hands of his pupils and those seeking his healing.

Water Meditation

Simply boil some water and allow it to cool before using. This will purify the water by removing spiritual impurities and acting as a cleanser.

Water should be half-filled in a shallow bowl. You would want to do this over a sink or somewhere dry. Place your hands in the bowl, palms down, and take a few minutes to relax your hands there. 

Return your hands to their original positions and cup some water into your palms gently. Lift the hands over the bowl to allow the water to return to it fully.

When you pull the water out of the bowl, take a deep breath and then exhale while allowing it to drip. After the Water Meditation, feel free to dry your hands and let the water's healing properties wash over them.

If the water is too hot or cold, allow it to cool down or place it somewhere warm, such as in the sun's light. Make a statement or a question about your target. Take 5-15 minutes to relax quietly with this energy.

If your mind wanders, just visualize the power sign by repeating the name three times. Accept that you are holding the entire light of Reiki energies in your hands and that it will follow you during the day until you are done.

Make notes of your experience in a diary. Any thoughts, words, images, or feelings that come to mind should be included. Even if it doesn't seem to make sense, do it.

These are two of the most effective meditation methods for recharging your batteries and improving your mood that you can use on a regular basis.
