Make a short personal plan and check your understanding.
Make a small starting plan
Before adding symbols, describe a session you could comfortably repeat this week. Choose a place, a duration and a familiar Level 1 position or sequence. Include a beginning and an ending. “After lunch on Tuesday, I will sit in my chair, spend two minutes in Gassho, rest my hands comfortably in my lap for three minutes, then look around and write one sentence” is more usable than “I will practise more.”
Next, choose one question to carry into symbol study. You might want help remembering a shape, distinguishing two names, or understanding why a teacher uses a different sequence. A specific question gives your reading direction. It also makes a later conversation with a teacher more useful than asking whether you are generally advanced enough.
Apply the pillars to an ordinary interruption
Suppose your phone rings during the practice. You can ignore it if safe, pause to answer, or finish and return another day. The useful question is whether you respond deliberately. A practice interrupted by ordinary life has not failed. Returning to a manageable plan develops steadiness more effectively than making the next session a punishment for missing this one.
Keep this note for the final chapter. You will revisit it after studying the symbols and offering a practice session. Look for changes in clarity, confidence and communication, rather than trying to prove a hidden energetic development.
