Scenario 2: Questions Regarding Medical Cures

Before a practice session, a friend asks: 'Will this Level 2 session cure my chronic migraines so I can stop taking my prescription medication?' How do you respond?

Scenario 3: Intuitive Impression Outside Agreed Boundaries

You agreed to a 15-minute seated session with hands hovering only over the head and shoulders. During Reiji-Ho, you feel a strong intuitive sensation drawing your attention toward the recipient's lower back. How should you proceed?

Choose an approach:

Three sentences that do different jobs

Observation describes what you noticed: “My palms felt warm.” Interpretation gives it a meaning: “I understood that as part of my spiritual practice.” Action describes what you will do: “I will adjust my chair next time.” Keeping the sentences separate lets you communicate your experience without presenting the interpretation as a fact about someone else's body.

Now consider “Your heart chakra is blocked because you are holding grief.” That sentence makes several claims the practitioner has not established. A more careful response is “You mentioned grief. Would you prefer quiet, a pause, or to finish?” The second response listens to what the person actually said and gives them a useful choice.

Keep room for meaning

Careful language does not remove personal meaning. You can say that a practice felt sacred, reminded you of someone, or helped you reflect. The point is to show whose experience and interpretation you are describing. “For me” and “in this tradition” can be useful when they genuinely locate the statement, rather than disguise a medical promise.

Choose one phrase you want to use in your next session. Practise saying it aloud so it sounds like ordinary speech. Clarity is a practical skill that improves with rehearsal.

Optional. Your note is saved on this device only — not sent anywhere. Marking the reflection complete is separate from writing a note.
