Stepwise Distance Practice Workshop
A complete ten-minute distance workshop adapted directly from the traditional photograph technique on page 52 of the school manual, combining explicit consent, representation, the four-symbol sequence, and deliberate closure.
1. 1. Verify Agreement & Settle Space
2 minutesConfirm that the recipient has given clear permission and knows the agreed appointment window. Silence your phone, close your room door, and place the recipient's photograph or name card before you. Take three quiet breaths in Gassho.
2. 2. Cup the Representation & Intone the 4-Symbol Sequence
2 minutesHold the photograph or name card in your cupped hands with the image facing up. With your index finger or mental focus, draw each symbol over the representation, silently intoning each name three times:
- Cho Ku Rei (3x) — activate and focus
- Sei Hei Ki (3x) — mental and emotional harmony
- Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen (3x) — connection across distance and time
- Cho Ku Rei (3x) — seal and stabilize
Gently close your hands together over the representation and silently or softly speak the recipient's name three times.
3. 3. Mental Session and Attentive Holding
4 minutesImagine being quietly present with the recipient resting comfortably. In your imagination or using a surrogate (cushion or palms), visualize offering quiet Reiki to key areas (head, heart, solar plexus, and feet). Keep your posture easy and your shoulders relaxed.
4. 4. Closure, Aura Smoothing, and Cold-Water Grounding
2 minutesMentally smooth the recipient's aura from head to feet to conclude. Set the photograph or card down. Close your hands in Gassho and give quiet thanks for the opportunity to practise. Stand up, wash your hands in cool running water, and take a few deliberate steps to complete your grounding.
Prepare a ten-minute practice
Use this sequence only with an agreed partner, or rehearse it as a personal study with a blank card. Confirm the start and finish, choose a comfortable representation, and keep the symbol references available. The structure adapts the photograph-based practice on page 52 into a short learning session. It does not reproduce the manual's disease-specific instructions or claim that imagery shows what the recipient is experiencing.
Adapt without losing the agreement
If you lose your place, return to the reference and continue, or finish early. If your partner cancels or asks you to stop, stop. You can study the symbols on your own later. If you receive no feedback, record that honestly instead of filling the silence with a story about what must have happened.
The useful learning is whether you prepared clearly, followed your chosen structure, remained comfortable and ended when agreed. Any personal spiritual meaning can sit alongside that practical review.
